"I have a this newer 3000 size Stradic on a 7 ft. lightwieght medium action custom rod and I love it. The reel is very smooth operating with 12 lb. monofilamint and feels awsome. Most of my fishing is done in backcountry saltwater for Snook and Seatrout an Reds. The real advantage of the newer technology is you can downsize the reel size and have a rod/reel combo that is extremely lightweight and still have alot of fighting power. I can fish a whole bunch in HOT weather without much fatigue because of the light weight of this combo."

"This is a really good reel. I use it for heavier duty outfits for South Carolina. So far I've caught multiple sharks, one being a blacktip a little over 5 feet. It's also good for other big fish like bull reds. It is smooth and not ridiculously expensive like some similar reels."
